According to the genealogy's authors, Antoine Desrosiers would be the first French of this patronym to settle on Canadian ground. Probably, he was came from Renaison in the area of Lyon, France. We will speak about him further on this site.
However, he is not the only one to come to Nouvelle France at the beginning of the colony. The Genealogical research Centre of Quebec published a summary Les Origines du nom DESROSIERS in which François Boucher , Pierre and Jean Moreau dit Desrosiers, Pierre Deguire dit Desrosiers, Michel and Jean-Baptiste Jutras dit Desrosiers and Antoine Laniel dit Desrosiers are mentioned.
In introduction of his book on "Antoine Desrosiers et Anne du Hérisson en Nouvelle-France, 1636-1711", Georges Desrosiers mentions others names like Jean Desrosiers, Robert LecLerc dit Desrosiers and François Fortin dit Desrosiers. He underlines, rightly, that the majority of Desrosiers of America are descendants of Antoine Desrosiers, François Deguire and Julien Laniel.
During my quest, I've found another line of Desrosiers whose ancestors are Jean Patoile dit Patoine and Jeanne Barbier. Their son, Jean-Nicolas Patoine, took the surname of Desrosiers.
Mme Viola Aubé (girl's name : Desrosiers) say that Acadians named Gisé, Racois, etc. added Desrosiers as other name.
